Catarau Andrei, 3 years

We have several families which faced difficult diagnosis of “arthrogryposis”. Together we continue following how Vanea Statnic’ state is improving. He is under intensive treatment.
Arthrogryposis is a very big trouble. It came also in Catararu’s family. The smallest son Andrey was very much expected by his parents. Mother was taking care of her health, she was always under careful supervision of specialists, she did all investigations in time. Doctors did not detect any problems with the baby during pregnancy.

But after delivery, mother could immediately observe concerns on the doctor’s faces and understood that something is wrong with her new- born baby. He had straight arms, no joints could be observed, fingers were deformed. Andrey was consulted by the best local orthopedists . But, unfortunately they could not help the little boy and the family had to apply for assistance in the outside clinics.

During investigations in the Pediatric Orthopedic Institute G.I. Turner ( St. Petersburg) doctors gave hope that the child could be treated and he will be able to have a normal life, but for this to happen 6 operations are needed. 5 interventions are already done. Each cost 184 000 RUB. Our organization helped Catararu’s family 2 times. Every time we have received words of overwhelming gratitude.

Today Andrey does have good results : he can write, draw, play, swim, and everything out of this list he can do on is own. There is still room for improvement, and the little boy is trying hard. Every day he has painful and exhausting gymnastics. And he does it, because he wants to fully control his arms. The final operation which is due very shortly should strengthen triceps muscles. After this Andrey will be able to bend and unbend the arm in the elbow.

The cost of last, 6th operation is 200 800 RUB. There is some money left from the previous fund raising, thus we need to collect only 36 000 MDL.

With big hope they look forward for the help. Andrey does need it!
