Katya Portarescu is just 3 months old. She is a long-awaited and very welcomed child in the family of visually impaired. Her parents believed that their disability bypasses their child, but unfortunately Katya was diagnosed with the cataracts in both eyes at birth. To correct her vision, Katya will need two surgeries. With the help of relatives, friends and people with kind hearts, Katya’s parents raised the money for the first surgery, but will not be able to pay again. The second surgery will cost 14 730 Leu.

Katya’s parents are visually impaired. Her mom was born in the family of the blind with the same diagnosis as Katya but had a surgery in the early age and her vision slightly improved. Katya’s dad lost his sight at the age of 12, when in the armed conflict of 1992, outside of their house, the grenade exploded. As a result of the explosion, Katya’s dad, a boy at that time, received shrapnel wounds in the eyes, neck and head. Katya eats well, gains weight and progresses. In order to make her life fuller, we need to help her.
