Long-awaited news from the family of Ivan Statnic

Ivan is back home after one more surgery. The surgeons transplanted his triceps to the front part of his ulna. This gave Vanya the possibility to bend his arm at the elbow and bring his hand to the mouth.

Vanya’s mother wrote to us:

“The surgery was just one of the stages, after it comes developing the arm, it’s an exhausting and hard everyday work. Vanyusha is having a heavy workload, the doctors gave us lots of recommendations for training all his joints. The time flies imperceptibly, it seems that the day is long but the time is still not enough. Everybody is treating us extremely well. First of all, you, who did not turn away from us at a very difficult time. It’s like after being under water for a long time and then, finally, getting to the surface and making a deep breath. In any case, I feel your appearance in our lives this way. Second of all, there are people who believed in us and really helped us. What a joy one feels when one sees the happy face of one’s son, when he looks at the donations reports and understands that every donation is one more step toward his attempt at becoming an independent person. And how well did they treat us in the clinic! Olga Evghenyevna, the head of the department and our main physician, is doctor with a God-given talent. She will never raise her voice, she will tell you everything and explain everything in a very clear and simple manner. The clinic’s staff and even the hospital cleaners received us as old acquaintances, they were very happy to see Vanya enter the hospital department on his own. They would always ask him how he feels, and those are not just words – you can tell they are worried, too. The anaesthesiologist also helped Vanyusha, he helped my son get calm before the surgery. I can talk for ages about those wonderful people. About the good people who, it turns out, are so many in this world. Our deepest gratitude goes to you all. And Vanya and I have a big favour to ask of you – please, do not leave us without your support now that we went through so much but still have so much to go through.
